We're fast approaching the biggest holiday season - Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hannukah, New Year's.... so I guess I'd better get busy with some posting some of my holiday projects.  Maybe you'll find a little something to inspire you.

The first few I'll share are ones I made for a display at a recent Proverbial Stampers meeting.  My upline, Connie Heisey, asked me to do this display, and I find it hard to say no to her - she's always so supportive and generous to her downline.  AND.... she's now been promoted to Sr. Advisor - the highest level a demonstrator can achieve.  And she's the first to do it, too.  Congratulations, Connie.  Your dedication and hard work has paid off.

The layout is one we used at the Oct. 1 Regional Seminar in Baltimore, MD.  Stampin' Up! provides us with many ideas to help us grow our businesses and learn new stamping techniques. 

The colors for this sample came directly from the Candy Cane DSP - Real Red, Baja Breeze, Garden Green and Whisper White.  Can you see that sparkle on the DSP?  It's one of the Specialy Designer Papers - so gorgeous for the holidays.

A Walk in the Park with a Great Friend

Okay, so my blog post title is a little corny, trying to get the pertinent information about this card squeezed into a single phrase.  But it is indeed another friendship card made with the Stampin' Up! Great Friend stamp set and the new Designer Series Paper, A Walk In the Park.  Both of these items can be found in the current Occasions Mini Catalog.  Click on the link in the right-hand column to view.

The color scheme is sophisticated, I suppose, with Basic Gray, Going Gray, and Whisper White, but softened by the Pink Pirouette and Regal Rose accents.  A little bit of embossing resist on the butterfly and some Crystal Effects in the centers of the flower add some shine.  There's some dimension, too, with the tiny molded flowers and the butterfly "in flight" on some foam dimensionals.  The frame behind the butterfly is sponged in pink using a mask I created with the new Sizzix Bigz XL Matchbox die --- a Stampin' Up! exclusive (see it in the mini catalog).  Look for a box or two created with the die next week.

How-To Make The Flowers:

• Punch out three little flowers using the Trio Flower Punch.

• Place the flowers on the foam mat from your Stamper's Tool Kit or the Mat Pack.  Using the larger ball end of the stylus tool, press into each petal of the flower.

• Flip the flower to the reverse side, and press down in the center with the ball of the stylus.

• Draw a pink dot in the center with a marker, add a drop of Crystal Effects and let dry well.

• Adhere to project with a very small dot of Mono Multipurpose Adhesive or a mini glue dot.

And now it's time for me to get stamping, so that I can share some samples of the products I've told you about.  I know you'll enjoy them as much as I do.

Let's Rock And Roll!!

Yes, there is actually a rubber stamping technique named "Rock and Roll".  It's what I used to color the flower image on this card.  Cool, huh?

I inked the stamp (from So Many Scallops, a FREE SAB stamp set) with Pixie Pink ink, then holding the stamp at a 45 degree angle to the ink pad, I rolled just the scalloped edges around on a Lovely Lilac ink pad.  Voila!!  Two tones, perfectly  blended.  This works well with any two contrasting colors that will blend into a nice shade.  Always ink up the bold stamp with the lighter color first!

The cardstock is the same two colors (Pixie Pink and Lovely Lilac), and the white is Glossy White cardstock.  I liked the way the bold, two-toned imaged stamped on it better than a matte cardstock.

Other details:  the center band is stamped using the Petals Jumbo Wheel and a Lovely Lilac ink cartridge.  The big medallion was punched out using the Scalloped Circle Punch (a true "must-have").  In fact, all four of the images in the So Many Scallops stamp set are sized to punch out perfectly with the Scalloped Circle Punch!  In the center of the image I decided to use another punched out flower; this one is the smallest of the three flowers you'll punch out with the new Boho Blossoms punch.  And while we're punching, why not go ahead and punch out a couple of ovals for our greeting?  The large and small oval punches nest perfectly to make a great frame for our "Many Thanks", one line of a stamp from Lots of Thoughts (another of the Sale-a-Bration limited-edition stamp sets).  A bit of white grosgrain ribbon, a gold brad and some foam dimensionals complete the ingredients in this recipe.
